What is the difference between attestation and equivalency?
Attestation answers "is this document real?". Equivalency answers "what is this qualification worth in the UAE?". They are issued by different bodies for different purposes, and one does not imply the other.
A degree can be perfectly attested and still fail equivalency, usually because the institution is not recognised or the programme does not meet the required contact hours.
- Attestation: consular chain ending at MOFAIC
- Equivalency: an assessment by the Ministry of Education
- Attestation is a prerequisite for equivalency, not an alternative
- Different receiving bodies ask for different ones — check which you need
