Nobody in Dubai misses a renewal because they do not care. They miss it because the dates live in six different places: a passport, a card, a portal, an email from a landlord, a licence in a drawer, and a bank's compliance system.

This page puts every deadline a resident or company faces on one screen, with what missing each one actually costs.

The whole calendar on one page

Every recurring Dubai deadline, with the published consequence. Figures from ICP, GDRFA Dubai, MoHRE and the FTA.

Six documents, six authorities, six clocks. They only fail when nobody owns the list.

The cascade: how one expiry becomes five

This is the pattern that turns a small oversight into a serious bill, and it always runs in the same direction.

  1. A tenancy contract lapsesThe landlord is travelling, or nobody was watching. Cost so far: nothing.
  2. The Ejari cannot be renewedEjari registration needs a signed contract. Cost so far: still nothing.
  3. The trade licence renewal is blockedA Dubai mainland licence requires a registered address. Now a penalty starts accruing.
  4. Both establishment cards lapseThe GDRFA immigration card and the MoHRE labour file both hang off a valid licence.
  5. Staff visas cannot renewNothing in the immigration chain moves without the establishment card. Every employee whose visa expires in the gap starts at AED 50 per day, each.
  6. The bank restricts the accountThe trade licence is a core KYC document and compliance re-verifies it.

Six steps from an unsigned lease to per-person daily fines and a restricted bank account. Each link is individually trivial. That is exactly why the chain is not noticed until the end of it.

The fix is upstream: renew the tenancy 45 days before the licence, not the same week. Detail in Ejari and the office requirement and trade licence renewal.

Which fines are capped and which are not

Useful triage when several things are late at once, which is usually how it happens.

Capped versus uncapped. Uncapped fines get your attention first.
FineRateCapPriority
Visa overstayAED 50 per dayNoneFix first
Trade licence late renewalAccrues and escalatesNone publishedFix first — it blocks everything downstream
Return after long absenceAED 100 per 30 days or partNoneFix before travelling
Emirates ID late renewalAED 20 per dayAED 1,000Fix second
Unreported data changeAED 20 per dayAED 1,000Fix second
Corporate tax late registrationOne-offAED 10,000Fixed amount, no urgency premium

The logic is simple. An uncapped daily fine gets worse every morning. A capped one stops. If you have an expired visa and an expired Emirates ID and limited time this week, the visa is the one that costs you money for waiting.

MSM tip: Also fix in this order because of dependency, not just cost. An expired trade licence blocks the establishment cards, which block the visa renewals, which is what generates the uncapped fine. Working top-down through the cascade is both the cheapest and the fastest route.

The 2026 and 2027 deadlines that are new

Four dates that did not exist a few years ago and are now live.

New compliance deadlines landing now.
DeadlineDateWho it affects
Small Business Relief endsTax periods ending after 31 December 2026Every company under AED 3m revenue currently electing relief. For a calendar-year taxpayer, FY2026 is the last year. No extension published as at 26 July 2026
E-invoicing: appoint a provider30 October 2026Companies with revenue AED 50m and above. Note the Ministry of Finance timeline graphic still shows 31 July 2026, superseded by the MoF announcement of 10 May 2026
E-invoicing go-live, large companies1 January 2027Revenue AED 50m and above
E-invoicing, SMEsAppoint by 31 March 2027, live 1 July 2027Revenue up to AED 50m

The Small Business Relief sunset is the one to act on this year. Ministerial Decision 73 of 2023 states the AED 3 million threshold applies only to tax periods "that end before or on 31 December 2026." If you have been electing relief, your first genuinely taxable year is likely FY2027, and that is a bookkeeping problem to solve in the second half of 2026.

Every one of these has a date on it. Put them all in one place once.

A renewal system that works

Not a product, not an app. Twenty minutes, once, and a recurring reminder. If the year ends with a move home rather than a renewal, the order to close a family file is on cancelling a family visa.

  1. Write every expiry date on one pageTrade licence, Ejari, both establishment cards, every staff visa, every Emirates ID, insurance, chamber membership. Most companies have never seen these on a single page, and the exercise itself usually surfaces something already late.
  2. Set reminders at 90, 60 and 30 days90 to notice, 60 to chase the landlord, 30 to submit. The 60-day one matters most because it is the only step that depends on somebody else.
  3. Give one person the listNot a department. A named person. Shared ownership of a renewal calendar is how renewals get missed.
  4. Stagger the dates deliberatelyMove the tenancy renewal 45 days ahead of the licence. Once done, it stays staggered every year after.
  5. Run a quarterly staff-visa auditEvery visa on your establishment file against every person who still works for you. Uncancelled visas for departed staff are the single most common source of both fines and blocked renewals.
  6. Send the new licence to your bank immediatelyCompliance re-verifies it. A stale licence on file is a common cause of account restrictions that nobody connects to the renewal.
MSM tip: If you do only one thing from this page, do the quarterly staff-visa audit. It takes an afternoon, it costs nothing, and it prevents the two most expensive failures on this whole calendar: uncapped per-person overstay fines, and a licence renewal blocked at the counter.

MSM tracks these dates for clients and files the renewals across DET, the Dubai free zones, GDRFA, MoHRE, ICP and the FTA. Send your licence and a staff list and we will build the calendar with you. Start at business setup, visa services or typing and clearance.
