Yes. The profession is amended on the labour contract and work permit first, and the change then flows through to the residence file and the Emirates ID. It is filed by the employer rather than by you personally, and it usually means a fresh contract. How the change actually happens

Your employer amends the work permit and issues a new labour contract with the corrected profession, and the residence file is then updated to match. It runs in that order, and skipping to the residency side does not work.

Qualifications and skilled categories

Moving into a skilled or professional classification usually means proving the qualification behind it, with an attested certificate. If your degree has never been attested, that becomes the long pole in this job rather than the amendment itself.

The mistake we see most: Trying to fix the residence visa without touching the labour contract. The profession lives on the work permit first, and amending downstream records while the contract still says something else simply does not hold.

No. Your employer files the amendment on the work permit and issues a new contract. You cannot do it directly, which is why employer cooperation is the real constraint.

Do I need my degree attested?
