Why do so many websites offer "UAE apostille" services?
Because the word is what people search for, and because attestation and apostille are genuinely confusing when you first meet them. An apostille is a single certificate that replaces a whole chain of legalisation, and it works only between countries that are both parties to the same 1961 convention.
The UAE is not one of them. What those services actually deliver, when they deliver anything, is consular legalisation with an apostille-shaped name on the invoice.
- An apostille only works between two Hague Convention parties
- The UAE is not a party, so the shortcut does not exist here
- What is sold as "UAE apostille" is consular legalisation
- The outcome is the same; the process is longer and the name is different
