What is the Dubai remote work visa?

It is a residence visa allowing someone employed by a company outside the UAE to live in Dubai while continuing that employment remotely. There is no UAE sponsor. Applicants evidence their overseas employment or business, a minimum income, health insurance and a valid passport.

Who is it actually for?

Someone employed by a company abroad who wants to live in Dubai, or someone running a business registered elsewhere. Consultants with overseas clients, employees of foreign companies working remotely, and business owners whose company is not here.

What evidence is required?

An employment contract with the overseas employer showing sufficient remaining term, recent pay slips, and bank statements demonstrating the income actually arrives. Business owners evidence ownership and trading instead.

The bank statements are what applications turn on. A contract stating a salary that the statements do not show is the common failure.

How does it compare with a free zone company?

Different instruments for different situations. The remote work visa suits someone whose income genuinely comes from abroad and who does not want a UAE entity. A free zone licence suits someone who wants to invoice clients from here.

The mistake we see most: Applying with a contract showing a healthy salary and bank statements showing something different, usually because the salary is paid partly in another form. The statements are the evidence that matters, and a gap between the two stalls the application.
MSM tip: Get your employer to confirm in writing that remote working from the UAE is permitted under your contract. Several applicants have arranged the visa and then discovered their employment terms did not allow them to work outside the home country.
