Oman eVisa from Dubai

The eVisa portal is free to use and perfectly usable. It also rejects applications for reasons it does not explain, and almost all of them are the photograph.

How do you apply for an Oman eVisa from Dubai?

Through the Royal Oman Police eVisa portal, with a passport copy, a photograph meeting the stated specification, your UAE residence details and your travel dates. The application is approved before you travel rather than at the border. Most refusals we are asked to fix are document quality problems, not eligibility problems.

What actually gets applications rejected

Not eligibility. A photograph with the wrong background, a passport scan with a cut-off corner, a name entered as it appears on an airline booking rather than as printed in the passport. The portal is unforgiving about all three and explains none of them.

We see the same four faults over and over, which is the only reason we are quicker at this than you would be.

  • Photograph background, size and framing
  • Passport scan showing the full page, uncropped
  • Name entered exactly as printed in the passport
  • Dates consistent with the travel actually booked

Do you even need one

Ask that first. If your nationality allows visa-free entry for a short stay, or your residence permit covers you on arrival, the eVisa is work you did not need to do.

We check before filing. It occasionally means telling someone there is nothing to pay for.

  • Visa-free entry may cover short tourist stays
  • The GCC resident route on arrival may cover you instead
  • The check costs nothing and takes one message
  • Filing unnecessarily wastes both time and fee

Timing it properly

Approvals are not instant and they are not guaranteed to arrive the same week. Applying two days before a drive to Musandam is optimistic, and the fallback if it does not come through is cancelling the trip.

Give it real time. A week is comfortable; two days is a gamble.

  • Allow days rather than hours for approval
  • Book refundable where the trip depends on it
  • A rejection needs time to correct and refile
  • Public holidays either side slow everything

Applying for a family

Each traveller needs their own application, their own photograph and their own documents, including children. A family of four is four files, not one with four names on it.

Send everyone together and we build them in parallel, which is the only part of this that goes faster in bulk.

  • One application per traveller, children included
  • Each needs a compliant photograph
  • Children's documents have their own requirements
  • Assessed individually even when submitted together

How we handle an eVisa

  1. Check you need itVisa-free or the resident route may cover you.
  2. Collect the documentsPassport scan and a compliant photograph.
  3. Check them against the specBefore submission, not after a rejection.
  4. File on the ROP portalDetails entered exactly as printed.
  5. Track the approvalAnd correct quickly if anything comes back.
  6. Send you the approvalWith a note on what to carry.

Why eVisa applications come back

Fault and fix
Common faultThe fix
Photograph background or framing wrongReshoot to the stated specification
Passport scan cropped or unclearFull page, flat, properly lit
Name spelled as on the airline bookingEnter it exactly as printed in the passport
Dates inconsistent with travelMatch the application to the booking
Applied too close to departureAllow days, not hours
The mistake we see most: Using a phone selfie cropped square as the application photograph. It looks fine on a screen and fails the specification, and the portal returns the application without telling you which field caused it.
MSM tip: Take the passport scan flat on a table in daylight rather than photographing it at an angle in the car. Skewed scans with a shadow across the machine-readable strip are the second most common reason these come back.

What documents do you need?

What we need

Passport copy, photo page, full and uncropped
A recent photograph
Emirates ID and residence permit, both sides
Travel dates in and out
Where you will stay in Oman
The same set for every traveller, children included

Send the passport scan flat and in daylight. Half the rejections we are asked to fix trace back to how the photograph or scan was taken rather than anything about the applicant.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I apply for the Oman eVisa myself?
Yes, the portal is public and free to use. People come to us after a rejection, because the portal does not say which field caused it.
Why was my eVisa rejected?
Most often a document fault rather than anything about you: photograph specification, a cropped passport scan, or a name entered differently from the passport.
How long does approval take?
Days rather than hours, and not guaranteed within any particular week. Applying two days before travelling is a gamble.
Do children need their own eVisa?
Yes. Each traveller needs their own application, photograph and documents, however young.
Do I need an eVisa if I am driving?
It depends on your documents, not your transport. Many UAE residents can enter on arrival without one, which we check before filing anything.
What if my trip is cancelled?
The approval is tied to the details you gave. Tell us early if dates move, because changing them is easier than starting again.

eVisa rejected, or not sure where to start?

Send your passport scan and photo. We will tell you if they will pass before anything is filed.
