Dubai Visit Visa for Indian Nationals

A good number of Indian travellers who ask us for a visit visa do not need one. If you hold a US visa or a UK or EU residence permit, the rules may already be on your side.

Do Indian passport holders need a visa for Dubai?

Indian nationals generally need a visa arranged before travel. However, holders of certain visas or residence permits from other countries may qualify for a visa on arrival instead. Eligibility depends on what you already hold and its remaining validity, so it is worth checking before applying.

Might you already qualify for a visa on arrival?

Possibly. The UAE extends visa-on-arrival facilities to Indian passport holders who hold certain visas or residence permits issued by other countries, subject to conditions including remaining validity.

This is the first thing we check, because if it applies, an application is money you did not need to spend. It is also the thing least often checked by people applying through a booking site.

  • Certain foreign visas or residence permits can qualify you
  • Remaining validity of that document matters
  • Conditions apply and are confirmed at the border
  • Worth checking before paying for an application

If you do need a visa, which duration?

The same logic as for any visitor. A holiday fits comfortably inside the shorter visa; a job-hunting or business trip usually does not, and the longer visa avoids an extension.

Indian travellers visiting family often underestimate the stay and extend later, which costs more than choosing properly at the outset.

  • Short visa for holidays and defined trips
  • Longer visa for job hunting, business or extended family stays
  • Extending mid-stay usually costs more overall
  • Both durations run from the date of entry

What documentation is checked?

Passport validity, a recent photograph, travel details, and sponsor information where a resident relative or hotel is sponsoring. Previous UAE visa history matters, particularly any overstay or cancelled visa.

Undeclared history is the most common reason an otherwise straightforward application runs into difficulty.

  • Passport with sufficient remaining validity
  • Recent passport-style photograph
  • Sponsor details, where applicable
  • Full and honest previous UAE visa history

What about converting to residence later?

Common among Indian nationals who come to look for work. Where someone secures a job, the employer applies for the work permit and an inside-country status change is often possible rather than an exit and return.

Say at the outset if that is a possibility, because it affects which visa route makes sense.

  • Inside-country status change is often available
  • The employer drives the work permit application
  • A longer visit visa leaves room for the process
  • Eligibility is confirmed case by case

How we handle an Indian national's application

  1. We check visa-on-arrival eligibility firstIf you hold a qualifying visa or residence permit, we will tell you rather than sell you an application.
  2. Duration adviceMatched to the real purpose of the trip.
  3. DocumentsPassport validity, photograph and sponsor details checked before filing.
  4. ApplicationSubmitted and tracked through to issue.
  5. Arrival briefingEntry deadline and last day of stay, in writing.
  6. Status change, if it arisesHandled if you find work during the visit.

Do you need to apply in advance?

Position by what you already hold
You holdLikely position
Indian passport onlyApply for a visa before travel
A valid visa or residence permit from certain countriesMay qualify for visa on arrival — check
A previous UAE visa, now expiredApply as normal; disclose the history
A previous UAE overstayTell us first; it affects the application
A UAE residence visaNo visit visa needed
The mistake we see most: Paying an agency for a visit visa while holding a document that would have qualified for a visa on arrival. Nobody checked, because checking does not earn a fee. Ask the question before you pay, whoever you use.
MSM tip: Declare any previous overstay or cancelled UAE visa up front, however long ago. It shows up during processing anyway, and a case handled openly from the start goes far better than one where it surfaces mid-application.

What documents do you need?

What we need

Passport copy with sufficient remaining validity
Recent passport-style photograph
Copies of any other country's visa or residence permit you hold
Intended travel dates
Sponsor details, where a relative or hotel is sponsoring
Previous UAE visa history, including any overstay

The document worth sending even if you think it is irrelevant is any other country's visa or residence permit. It is what decides whether you need to apply at all.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Frequently Asked Questions

Do Indians need a visa for Dubai?
Generally yes, arranged before travel. But holders of certain visas or residence permits from other countries may qualify for a visa on arrival, so check what you hold before applying.
Does my US visa help?
It may. Holding certain foreign visas or residence permits can qualify Indian passport holders for a visa on arrival, subject to conditions including remaining validity. We check this first.
How long can I stay?
It depends on the visa taken. Both shorter and longer visit visas are available, and the stay counts from the date of entry.
Can I look for a job on a visit visa?
People commonly do. If you find work, the employer applies for the permit and an inside-country status change is often possible instead of leaving and returning.
I overstayed years ago. Is that a problem?
It has to be declared and it does affect the application, but it is frequently resolvable. Handling it openly from the start works far better than hoping it goes unnoticed.
What does it cost?
It varies with duration and route, and the authorities update it. We quote against your case, and we will tell you first if you do not need to apply at all.

Might you not need a visa at all?

Send us what you hold. We will check visa-on-arrival eligibility before quoting for anything.
