How do you get a police clearance certificate from your home country for UAE use?

It is issued by the police or interior authority in that country, then attested through their foreign ministry and legalised by the UAE mission there. On arrival, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs attests it. An Arabic translation is often required afterwards.

Why can it not be done from here?

Can someone apply on your behalf?

In most countries yes, with an authorisation, and often that authorisation itself has to be notarised or attested. Some countries also allow application through their mission in the UAE, which is worth checking before organising a relative.

How does the validity window catch people?

A UAE employer or licensing body typically wants a certificate issued recently. Someone who obtained one a year ago for a different purpose often cannot reuse it.

Apply when you know it will be needed, not speculatively, and not so late that the chain cannot complete.

The mistake we see most: Accepting a job with a four-week start date and only then discovering the employer wants home-country police clearance. The chain runs through offices abroad and cannot be compressed to fit. Ask about clearance requirements during the offer conversation, not after.
